UK psychiatrists admit causing harm to lesbian, gay and bisexual people.
The Royal College of Psychiatrists has issued a historic statement acknowledging for the first time the harm done to lesbian, gay, and bisexual people who were subjected to aversion therapy, the practice of using electric shocks or nausea-inducing drugs to try to “cure” people of their sexual orientation. “We hold our hands up,” it said. A dangerous precedent, Mass. set to vote on removing transgender protections.
Massachusetts voters in 2018 will determine the fate of a law established in 2016 that protects transgender individuals from discrimination in public accommodations. A pink-shirted Rep. John Lewis was celebrated with a hero’s welcome. Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed held court from atop a towering float. Two Democratic candidates for governor paraded down Peachtree, as did just about every contender for Atlanta office.
