Trump’s anti-LGBT agenda a surprise to some gay Republicans.

Some gay Republicans are expressing surprise that Donald Trump‘s positions on LGBT rights have been very Republican. Chris Barron, who co-founded GOProud several years ago and “LGBT for Trump” last year, said before the election that “the left” was trying to “scare gay people” into voting for Clinton by saying that Trump would be bad on LGBT issues.

Azerbaijan is the worst place to be gay in Europe.

During the last two weeks of September, Azerbaijani police launched a violent campaign of “arresting and torturing men presumed to be gay or bisexual, as well as transgender women,” according to Human Rights Watch and local advocacy organizations.

Transgender footballer up for draft in the Australian Football League’s women’s division.

A first-ever ruling on whether transgender players can participate in the AFL Women’s competition will be made before the code’s draft announcement. The decision will come after 27-year-old Hannah Mouncey nominated herself for the draft. Mouncey, who underwent hormone treatment after the Rio Olympics, has been playing in Canberra’s Ainslie Tricolours in the local AFL Women’s competition, where she was deemed eligible to play.

Sexual orientation to be a part of the patient information for the NHS.

Gay rights campaigners have backed an NHS policy demanding that doctors and nurses start asking all patients from the age of 16 about their sexual orientation. NHS England has issued a new standard requiring staff to “record sexual orientation at every face to face contact with the patient, where no record of this data already exists”.
