In “Elders React to In a Heartbeat” a group of older individuals watch and react to the short animated film, “In a Heartbeat.” In the film, created by Beth David and Esteban Bravo, a boy “runs the risk of being outed by his own heart after it pops out of his chest to chase down the boy of his dreams.”
Dan Reynolds, lead singer of Imagine Dragons, said there’s no compromise in him when it comes to his views on gays in the Mormon Church. But he still believes the church might, one day, bend on their strict views against same-sex couples, citing the church’s policy change in 1978 that allowed men of African descent to hold the Priesthood.
The Royal Dutch Airlines official Twitter account attempted to show their support for the gay movement, but people noticed something rather ironic about their imagery. “It doesn’t matter who you click with,” they tweeted, “Happy [Pride Amsterdam].”
In what will come as a shock to not one living, breathing human, queer characters in television are mostly white males according to LGBTQ advocacy group GLAAD. Presenting to television reporters at the TCA Press Tour on Friday, GLAAD acknowledged that, while we have certainly progressed since the inane queer plot lines of the early to mid 2000s, the majority of LGBTQ representatives on screen privilege white men (just like the rest of the world, quelle surprise!).
Disney has introduced a multiracial two-mom family, voiced by lesbian actors. On a recent episode of the Disney Channel show Doc McStuffins, Wanda Sykes and Portia de Rossi each voice doll-like lesbian mothers helping their children cope after an “earthquake” shakes up their house.
That weight, in turn, was Carter’s bisexual preference. “When I was around 13-years-old I started to find boys and girls attractive. There were years that went by that I thought about it, but it wasn’t until I was 17-years-old, after a few relationships with girls, I had an experience with a male that I had an attraction to who I also worked with and grew up with.”
Brighton was awash in a riot of rainbow colours as people dressed up and took to the streets to celebrate LGBTQ+ pride. Approximately 300,000 people descended on the seaside city for one of the UK’s biggest annual summer Pride celebrations today. The Pet Shop Boys are to headline the event in Brighton and Hove in what will be the duo’s first Pride performance in 20 years, organisers said.
