“You’re an old-school racist” say Aussie doctors to anti same-sex marriage colleagues.

More than 1500 doctors have signed an open letter written by a WA medical student that likens colleagues who do not support gay marriage to old-school racists. The letter compares opposition to marriage equality with the discrimination which non-white people once faced. It follows a backlash within the medical profession to the stance taken by the Australian Medical Association, which recently released a position statement in support of marriage equality.

Signal Cinema LGBT film festival returns to NE England.

A CINEMA programme celebrating LGBT films launches in Barrow next week. Signal Cinema returns on Thursday August 31, with a series of screenings and pop-up events taking place throughout the rest of the year. Signal Pride! opens with the Bafta-winning comedy Pride, starring Bill Nighy and Imelda Staunton. This riotously funny and warm-hearted film tells the true story of the unlikely union between striking miners and gay activists in a Welsh mining town in 1984.

Worcester is painting the town “rainbow” for Pride.

When Worcester pride kicks off next month, downtown crosswalks are getting a makeover ahead of the parade and festival. This year, Worcester Pride is not only painting a rainbow flag on a downtown crosswalk, but also the transgender flag and a new rainbow flag with added colors. It’s the first time the group has painted a crosswalk during its pride celebration, something done in other cities, like Boston.

Honolulu comes out to support the Rainbow Film Festival.

20 films that support the LGBT lifestyle ran at the 28th Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival in Honolulu. About 1,500 people attended this year’s event, which ran over nine days. Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell was one of the attendees. And Island News’ own Brenton Awa and Moanike’ala Nabarro emceed the red carpet party.

NINE LGTBI associations have registered in Torremolinos in recent months, it has been revealed The development comes after Torremolinos has become a destination for lesbians, gay people, transsexuals, bisexuals and intersex people, something which has been embraced by the current council.

First US screening for 1951 lesbian love story.
