Pride Uganda 2017 cancelled due to threats of arrest and violence.

In a statement, organizers of Uganda Pride announced the event’s cancelation due to threats of violence and arrest.  “It is with very heavy hearts and deep-felt sadness that we announce the cancellation of Pride Uganda 2017,” the LGBT site Kuchu Times posted in a statement. “Following the police raid and interruption of the Pride parade last year, extra precaution was taken in organizing this year’s festival.”

Judgment day for gay marriage in Northern Ireland.

Judgment is due later on Thursday in two landmark legal challenges against Northern Ireland’s ban on gay marriage. Mr Justice O’Hara will rule on two separate cases that were heard together due to the similarities of the arguments. In the first case, two couples in civil partnerships – Gráinne Close and Shannon Sickles and Chris and Henry Flanagan-Kane – argued the region’s prohibition on same sex marriage breached their human rights.

Blackmail and intrigue in the world of gay porn.

An adult film studio has reportedly warned a “prominent public figure” that he faces exposure over his sexual preferences unless he pays a $97,000 ‘fine’. The unnamed individual was accused by the CEO of a gay porn company of pirating content and told that the ‘fine’ would increase to $525,000 if not settled quickly. The man has now gone on the offensive with his own lawsuit.

Oprah’s OWN Network premiered the latest season of its mega-church drama Greenleaf, which centers around Calvary World Ministries and the Greenleaf family who runs it, on Tuesday, August 15. The show picked back up where it left off…with a newly-divorced Christian father struggling with his gay desires.

Transgender health insurance protection in NY State.

Transgender individuals in New York state have new protections when it comes to health insurance coverage. Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo says health insurers can’t deny coverage based on gender identity. A state Department of Financial Services letter Wednesday tells health insurers to take reasonable steps to determine if the insured is eligible for services before denying a claim.

Build the condos, but keep the gay bar.

A U.K. City Council has ordered a private company that it cannot build luxury flats and offices on a site it recently purchased that included a closed gay-bar unless it agrees to include a new gay bar as part of the development plan. Tower Hamlets Council ordered earlier this month that developers Regal Homes must build a gay bar that will “remain a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender-focused venue for a minimum of 12 years,” regardless of its ability to stay economically afloat.
