Serbia welcomes its first gay-pride information center.

The first gay-pride information center has opened in Belgrade to disseminate information about gay-pride week and a pride parade that will be held on September 17. Organizers said the opening of the Pride Info Center on August 29 was a historic event, having “shifted the boundaries” in the conservative Balkan country.

Six college footballs players are now out.

The 2017 college football season kicks into high gear this weekend with teams all over the country playing. Among the thousands of players will be a record six on rosters who are openly gay. It was just a month ago that I wrote about there being a record five, but now the list is being updated after Butler’s Xavier Colvin came out on Monday.

There really is no “freeze” when it comes to the transgender troop ban.

Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis is creating a panel of experts to determine how the military should put President Donald Trump’s new guidelines for transgender service members into effect. Mattis said in a statement Tuesday the panel will be made up of people from the departments of Defense and Homeland Security. Members will be tasked with developing a system to “promote military readiness, lethality, and unit cohesion, with due regard for budgetary constraints and consistent with applicable law.”

AIDS healthcare coming to Orlando with new clinic.

he AIDS Healthcare Foundation has opened its first clinic in Central Florida, bringing another source of testing and care to the area, particularly for people with little or no health insurance. Local officials, including Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and City Council Commissioner Patty Sheehan, celebrated the clinic’s opening at a recent event and emphasized the region’s need for more HIV education and services.

San Diego will finally have an AIDS Memorial.

After 30 years of discussions, proposals and two AIDS Memorial Task Forces, San Diego will join other cities across the country and all over the world and finally have an AIDS Memorial to remember the over 8,000 men, women and children who have died of AIDS in San Diego County.

The US State Department continues to push for LGBT rights abroad.

The U.S. state department will keep pushing for “LGBT rights” abroad as it cuts more than half of its special programs devoted to causes like climate change and the Iran deal. In 2015, the Obama administration announced the creation of an “envoy” to promote homosexuality abroad, called the Special Envoy for the Human Rights of LGBT Persons. The Obama administration appointed Randy Berry, who is openly gay. He remains in the position today.

It looks like the Southern Baptist Convention doesn’t like the LGBT community.

Earlier today, the Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood (CBMW) released what they’re calling the Nashville Statement, which was adopted at a recent conference sponsored by the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission (the public policy arm of the Southern Baptist Convention). It’s a declaration of faith-based bigotry signed by some of the most powerful Christians in the country.
