While the Trump Administration has failed spectacularly in “repealing” or “replacing” the Affordable Care Act, has been embroiled in personnel roulette, and can’t shake the dark cloud of allegations of collusion with Russia to influence the election, it may have been easy to miss the relentless anti-LGBTQ agenda that this Administration is pursuing.

The Trevor Project – spike in trans suicide calls

Today, the Trevor Project — the nation’s largest LGBTQ youth crisis intervention & suicide prevention organization — reported a dramatic spike in calls, text messages and online chats overall, and most specifically from transgender youth following President Trump’s tweet regarding transgender military service members and the announcement of the “bathroom bill” in the Texas legislature.

Will Seattle have its first lesbian mayor?

Today Jenny Durkan bested 20 other candidates to become the first lesbian in Seattle history to win a mayoral primary, and positioning herself to become the first openly lesbian mayor of the city. With a general election win in November, Jenny would become just one of two openly lesbian mayors currently representing major U.S. cities.

HRC and researchers at the University of Connecticut launched a major national survey of LGBTQ teens. The survey is open to teens who identify as LGBTQ, are between 13 and 17, and are living in the U.S. Eligible teens can take the survey here.

Diversity has come a long way since the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce first opened its doors 15 years ago. But panelists discussing political and cultural issues and their effects on gay businesses say what took 15 years to accomplish could disappear in 15 months unless the business community takes a stand on gender diversity issues, including discrimination and matters like transgender bathroom laws.
