40 years for the LGBT Jewish synagogue.

Congregation Sha’ar Zahav, one of the United States’ oldest LGBT synagogues, kicks off the Jewish New Year with a celebration of its 40th anniversary next week. The congregation will be holding its High Holy Days services at the Herbst Theatre, and the public is welcome to attend, officials said.

Paris authorities stop terrorist plot to attack gay nightclubs.

A plan to attack gay nightclubs in Paris was among a dozen terror plots thwarted in France since the start of the year, according to Interior Minister Gerard Collomb. “This plan of violent action” targeted “Parisian nightclubs and in particular gay clubs,” he told a parliamentary committee examining government proposals for new anti-terror laws.

Ultra-Orthodox Jewish lawmaker forced to resign for attending a gay marriage.

An ultra-Orthodox Jewish lawmaker from Israel’s Shas party has resigned from parliament after he was criticized for participating in a gay wedding. Yigal Guetta announced his resignation Wednesday. In a recent radio interview, the 51-year-old lawmaker disclosed that he had a gay nephew who invited him to his wedding. Guetta said he attended out of respect for his relative and despite his own reservations.
