Malta praised for LGBT reforms by UN Human Rights office.

Malta has become the “gold standard” of LGBTQI reforms, according to the head of the United Nations’ LGBT equality campaign. In a video endorsement, Charles Radcliffe, who also heads the Equality and Non-discrimination team at the UN Human Rights office in New York, said Malta had lit the way in the sector.

While Tunisia will no longer force anal exams, homosexuality still a criminal offense.

Tunisia’s government pledged on Thursday to cease sexually intrusive anti-LGBT procedures in order to bring the North African country’s legal system into compliance with international human-rights laws. However, homosexuality will remain a criminal offense, with a three-year prison penalty.
