Richard Grenell, the first openly gay ambassador pick during Donald Trump’s tenure was narrowly appointed to be the U.S. envoy to Germany on Thursday. Even with a long history of involvement in politics, the members of the Foreign Relations Committee passed his appointment by only a vote of 11-10.
