LGBT Workplace Culture Summit comes to Coralville, Iowa.

One Iowa, an organization that advocates for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer/questioning community, hosts its first LGBTQ Workplace Culture Summit from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, at the Kirkwood Regional Center at University of Iowa, 2301 Oakdale Blvd., Coralville.

The health risks of being bisexual.

The B in the LGBT community often comes as an afterthought. There are fewer resources dedicated to bisexual people than to gay, lesbian and transgender people. The 40th annual LGBT Funders Report, which tracked funding to LGBT organizations from 1970 to 2010, found that, of the $487 million that went to programs and organizations that serve the overall LGBT population, a mere $84,000 went to groups that specifically serve bisexuals.

After a lesbian police officer saves his life, congressman appears at anti-LGBT group.

Steve Scalise’s life was saved by a lesbian police officer earlier this year, but that hasn’t changed the House Republican’s virulent opposition to LGBTQ rights. It was announced on Wednesday that the 51-year-old conservative would be appearing at next week’s Values Voter Summit.
