European court rules lesbian woman has no right to paternity leave.

Judges on the European Court of Human Rights ruled Thursday that a lesbian was not discriminated against when her application for paternity leave was denied. The case was brought by two French women in a civil partnership who argued that the rejection violated Article 14 and Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights.

Trump appointee Carl Higbie stepped down on Thursday from his position at the Corporation for National and Community Service, which runs AmeriCorps and Senior Corps, after he allegedly made racist, sexist, anti-Muslim and anti-LGBT comments on the radio between 2013 and 2016. “Effective immediately, Carl Higbie has resigned as Chief of External Affairs at CNCS,” Samantha Jo Warfield, a spokesperson for the corporation, told CNN in a statement.

Florida lawmakers push for LGBTQ workplace protections.

A bipartisan group of Florida lawmakers is pushing for LGBTQ workplace protections for state and private employees. The Florida Competitive Workforce Act, proposed by Democratic Rep. Ben Diamond and Republican Rep. Rene Plasencia, prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in lodging establishments, restaurants and other public accommodations.
