Grindr purchased by mobile gaming company.

Mobile gaming company Kunlun Group Ltd. Friday announced the completion of its purchase of Grindr LLC, the West Hollywood-based gay social network, from its founder and CEO Joel Simkhai, who will exit the company. Yahui Zhou, chairman of the board of Grindr, will serve as the interim CEO. Grindr’s current vice chairman, Wei Zhou, was named executive vice- chairman and chief financial officer, and former Facebook and Instagram veteran Scott Chen will join Grindr as chief technology officer, effective immediately. Planned Parenthood expands transgender service.

Sexual health care Planned Parenthood is offering hormone therapy to transgender people in more states. The non-profit healthcare provider has long been a bogeyman for Republicans because it gives women access to contraception, tools for safe sex and access to abortion. Read the full article HERE.

Joan Rivers jokes about her summer in Fire Island in 1969.

We just stumbled upon this Joan Rivers interview from The Dick Cavett Show. In the interview, which originally aired on Sept. 16, 1969, Rivers reveals that she used to vacation in one of America’s most well-known gay enclaves, Fire Island. Cavett asks Rivers where she was all summer, as she wasn’t in New York City. “Mainly Fire Island, and I certainly wouldn’t run into you there,” she quips. It’s a picture that speaks a thousand words. On Wednesday, Vice President Mike Pence swore in Doug Jones as Alabama’s newest U.S. senator after his surprise victory last month over controversial candidate Roy Moore. Jones’ gay son, Carson Jones, stood by his father’s side for the historic moment, and gave the vice president — who has been outspoken about his anti-gay views — a withering look.
