Gay skier Gus Kenworthy qualified for the Olympics yesterday. Kenworthy placed second at the last freeski slopestyle qualifier yesterday at Mammoth Mountain, which, combined with a first place finish at a qualifier last week, gave him a spot on the winter U.S. Olympic team going to South Korea.

Chechen leader who oversees the torture of gay men is super sad about losing his Instagram account.

The leader of the Russian republic of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, was recently hit with US sanctions over human rights abuses such as his government’s torture and “purge” of gay men. But there’s one thing about the sanctions that seems to particularly bother Kadyrov: Losing his Instagram account. “The closure of his Instagram account is a matter of Kadyrov’s image, of his prestige,” Oleg Orlov, the founder of a Russian human rights organization called Memorial, told The Guardian.

‘Love Is Love’: media firm uses LGBT language to send anti-gay message.

The “Love Is Love” video begins with a teenage girl, Emily, telling the story of coming out to her parents. “Love is not necessarily between a man and a woman,” she recalls saying. Footage plays of two women, dancing and flirting. “If you’re truly a Christian, you’re on my side … because God is love.” Between the title and the rainbow flag, you could easily mistake this for a pro-LGBT video from the It Gets Better or Truth Wins Out campaigns.
