Multiple studies have been conducted over the years, countless research has been carried out and endless debates have been had, all to show one thing. That the children of gay parents do just as well as the children of straight parents. The myth that kids need a mum and a dad to have a fulfilled childhood has been repeatedly, conclusively disproved – so why is it still so pervasive?

Burberry creates a rainbow tartan in support of LGBT charities.

Designed by creative director Christopher Bailey as part of his final Burberry collection, the new tartan will feature during the brand’s London Fashion Week show on 17 February 2018. In a statement, Bailey – who announced his departure in October 2017 – said he wanted to dedicate his final collection to the “best and brightest organisations supporting LGBTQ+ youth around the world”.

Alabama sued for not allowing transgender people to change their gender on licenses.

The American Civil Liberties Union and ALCU of Alabama have filed a lawsuit against the state for its policy of restricting access to driver’s licenses for transgender people that accurately reflect their gender identity. The lawsuit, Corbitt v. Taylor, was filed on behalf of three transgender clients who were denied the chance to update their gender on their licenses.

LGBTQ+ people raped and beaten in ‘gay cure’ rehab clinics in Ecuador.

LGBTQ+ people are being forced into “gay cure” rehab clinics and subjected to rape and beatings in Ecuador. Campaigners in the country have called on the government to investigate into over 100 clinics in which they believe human rights violations are being carried out against LGBTQ people.
