British Prime Minister Theresa May has said she deeply regrets the UK’s role in criminalising same-sex relations in its former colonies. The laws were passed under British rule and are still used in 37 of the Commonwealth’s 53 member nations. Ad Council goes ‘Beyond I Do’ to fight LGBT discrimination.

This June marks three years since same-sex marriage became legal across the country. But in 31 states, people are still allowed to discriminate against members of the LGBT community seeking housing, jobs and medical care. Three states – Arkansas, Tennessee and North Carolina – have laws preventing the passage of nondiscrimination legislation at the local level.

AARP survey shows LGBT seniors have harder time finding room for them in assisted living.

In 2014, the Equal Rights Center sent New Jersey couples to seek housing in age-restricted communities, and found that in 40 percent of the tests, the same-sex couples were treated less favorably than the heterosexual couples. The LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) tester was told of fewer available apartments and additional required fees.
