The LGBT heroes fighting to hold the first ever Pride in Swaziland.

In the last week of June, LGBT activists in Swaziland hope to make history by holding the African country’s first ever Pride march and festival. Advocacy group The Rock of Hope told The Daily Beast it is in the process of submitting an application to march and then hold a picnic or gathering in a park in the city of Mbabne.

‘No medically valid reason’ to ban trans troops, American Medical Association says.

“There is no medically valid reason — including a diagnosis of gender dysphoria — to exclude transgender individuals from military service,” American Medical Association CEO Dr. James Madara wrote in a letter addressed to Defense Secretary Jim Mattis. Mississippi court overturns decision recognizing sperm donor in lesbian child-custody case.

The Mississippi Supreme Court has recognized the parental rights of both moms in a separated lesbian couple. While several other states have resolved similar issues raised by marriages that were not originally recognized, the Mississippi case instead reflected a concern about whether an anonymous sperm donor should be recognized as a parent.

An anti-LGBT evangelical reviewed Love, Simon and it was wild.

Anti-LGBT evangelical campaigner Peter LaBarbera went to see ‘Love, Simon’, and he is not happy. A former Washington Times reporter, LaBarbera is the head of a Christian anti-gay pressure group known as Americans for Truth about Homosexuality. This week the evangelical activist went to see gay rom com ‘Love Simon’ – and was kind enough to do a review.

Gay Chechens flee threats, beatings and exorcism.

Family pressure has fuelled a sense of persecution felt by gay people in Chechnya, a mainly Muslim region in southern Russia. Dozens have fled and some have been granted asylum abroad, amid reports of kidnap and torture by Chechen security forces targeting gay or allegedly gay people. Chechen officials deny the reported abuses.

Maryland set to become 11th state to ban ‘gay conversion therapy’.

Maryland lawmakers voted Wednesday to prohibit health professionals from practicing “gay conversion therapy” on minors, after a legislator spoke of the pain she experienced when her parents sought it for her. Just days earlier, the woman’s father, a state senator, voted against the bill.
