Sadly, the answer is federal health and justice policymakers. High-ranking officials are systematically tearing out even the humblest measures aimed at upholding the basic American values of fairness and equality.
Alabama just became a little bit more LGBT friendly.
Today, HRC hailed the Montevallo City Council for passing city-wide non-discrimination protections that include sexual orientation and gender identity in housing, public accommodations and employment. Montevallo will become the second city in Alabama to pass such an ordinance; Birmingham passed one last year.
