A new campaign ad for Maryland gubernatorial candidate Richard Madaleno – which focuses on his record of progressive accomplishments for the state – ends with him kissing his husband Mark Hodge on the front lawn of his home. To our knowledge, it is the first political ad in American history to feature a kiss between a candidate and a same-sex spouse.

Reaction shows precisely why such events are needed. The Boston Red Sox did a totally cool thing Thursday night for their LGBT Pride night vs. the Detroit Tigers when they painted the team’s logo in rainbow colors as a decal on the pitching mound prior to the game.

All European Union countries must recognise the residency rights of same-sex spouses, the EU’s top court has ruled. In a landmark ruling for gay rights in Europe, the European Court of Justice ruled Romania must grant residence to the American husband of a local man even though Romania itself does not permit same-sex marriage.

Trump finally has an LGBTQ judicial nominee.

Mary Rowland is a lesbian nominee to a U.S. district court. It’s quite a contrast to all the anti-LGBTQ judges he’s pushing. President Donald Trump announced Thursday that he’s nominating Mary Rowland to be a federal judge, making it his first LGBTQ court pick since taking office.

The Supreme Court decision this week on the case of fragile baker Jack Phillips, who said his religious beliefs kept him from making two men a cake for their Colorado wedding reception back in 2012, is — in the grand scheme of American culture — a big zero.
