In some countries, celebrating Pride can mean death.

The Kakuma Refugee Camp in northwestern Kenya held its first LGBTQ pride event on Saturday, but now the event’s organizers are in fear for their lives. After the event, which organizers said drew approximately 600 people, threatening messages were “pinned all over the camp on notice boards,” according to Mbazira Moesa, a Ugandan refugee and one of the event’s organizers.

Study: Fewer teens do drugs or have sex, but more come out as LGBTQ.

As U.S. teens do fewer drugs and have less sex, more are also coming out of the closet as LGBTQ. That’s according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Youth Risk Behavior Survey report, which collects data about high school students. Researchers asked teens about using vaporizers…

FIFA fines Mexico federation $10K for anti-gay chants in Germany match.

FIFA on Wednesday handed the Mexico Football Federation a $10,400 fine for “discriminatory and insulting chants” during a World Cup game against Germany. The FIFA disciplinary committee handed down the 10,000 Swiss francs fine (the equivalent of $10.4k U.S.) on Wednesday for chants directed at Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

Landmark Canadian ‘LGBTQ Purge’ settlement could reach $85M-$145M.

A federal judge has approved a landmark deal to compensate members of the Canadian military and other agencies who were investigated and sometimes fired because of their sexual orientation between 1955 and 1996. Cheers and hugs greeted the decision of Justice Martine St-Louis after hours of testimony Monday from class action members.
