CDC: HIV testing outreach needed for black gay men in South.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in a study released Thursday raised an alarm about black men in the South and HIV. They’re not being diagnosed enough in traditional health care sites, the study found, so health workers need to seek them out in new places for testing and care.

British gay athlete risk prison to defend LGBT rights in Qatar for World Championships.

Team GB’s only gay athlete will risk prison at Qatar’s World Championships next year after pledging to defend LGBT rights during the global showpiece. Tom Bosworth is one of Britain’s leading gold medal prospects for the Doha event after collecting a silver medal in the 20km race walk at the Commonwealth Games earlier this year.

How common is dementia among LGBT seniors?

Dementia strikes about one in 13 lesbian, gay or bisexual seniors in the United States, a new study finds. “Current estimates suggest that more than 200,000 sexual minorities in the U.S. are living with dementia, but — before our study — almost nothing was known about the prevalence of dementia among people in this group who do not have HIV/AIDS-related dementia,” said Jason Flatt.
