Ugandan LGBTQ film festival raided by police and shut down.

The Queer Kampala International Film Festival was cancelled over the weekend after Ugandan police were tipped off about its location. The sold out LGBTQ event had taken measures to keep the location a secret, and even converted a warehouse into a cinema. Read the full article HERE.

Russia’s delayed Nureyev ballet to test Kremlin tolerance.

A Bolshoi Theatre ballet about the life of Russian dancer Rudolf Nureyev set to premiere on Saturday contains tender scenes of gay romance, testing the Kremlin’s tolerance for what it calls “homosexual propaganda”. Gay rights activist Harvey Milk to receive stepped memorial in San Francisco’s Castro.

The work of late gay rights activist and politician Harvey Milk will be celebrated in San Francisco’s famous Castro District with a large set of ramping steps, designed by US architecture firm Perkins Eastman. The stepped memorial will be built on Harvey Milk Plaza, an open square named to commemorate of Milk and his work in the 1970s as an activist for LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and queer) rights in the city. Kevin Spacey’s house of cards is beginning to topple.

After years of denying his sexuality, Kevin Spacey is finally pushed out of the closet after reports of his attacking a minor.
