Broadway comes to LGBT senior group in NYC.

Sing For Your Seniors brought cast members of Broadway hit “War Paint” to perform for senior members of the LGBT community in SAGE’s midtown headquarters on August 10th. They sang numbers from their show and some of their favorite Broadway standards for their enthusiastic audience. “So many of these people grew up with Broadway being one of the few places that celebrated differences and diversity, and LGBT stories and people, so it has a special place in people’s hearts,” says Christian Appel, SAGE’s Women’s Program Coordinator.

“Beach Rats” set to heat up the Sundance Film Festival.

Call Me By You Name, Luca Guadagino’s sun-and-tear soaked Armie Hammer and Timothee Chalamet-starring gay romance, might have been the breakout film of the Sundance Film Festival—even its recently released trailer earned breathless fawning on social media—but the much quieter, gritter, and, arguably, more authentic Beach Rats, which also made a splash out of Park City, is first out the gate in theaters and makes just as big a case for your attention.

“1-800-273-8255″ is a powerful video about teen suicide prevention.

Rapper Logic has released a moving video for his song “1-800-273-8255,” which features a young gay man coming to terms with his sexuality while faced with bullying and initial pushback from his family. Nickelodeon star Coy Stewart plays the young man who meets and falls for another boy played by Modern Family’s Nolan Gould while Oscar nominee Don Cheadle and Matthew Modine play the boys’ dads. Luis Guzmán plays the boy’s supportive coach.

Life among gay and lesbian couples looking to foster or adopt…”Finding Life”

One of the less-publicized but equally important victories to come out of the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2015 decision to legalize same-sex marriage was the now-new ability to adopt children. It would take exactly two years to the day for the court to strike down an Arkansas law that tried to uphold the ban but strike it down it did.

“Hooked”, a film about homelessness among LGBT youth in America.

The Redhouse Theater Thursday evening will be screening a new film to raise awareness of homelessness among LGBTQ youth in America. “Hooked” is the directorial debut of former model and actor Max Emerson. “It is a huge, silent epidemic you don’t hear enough about.  40% of homeless youth are LGBT.”  Emerson tells NewsChannel 9.
