Lesbians are “trending” on Broadway!

Using Fun Home and Indecent as evidence—both are Tony Award-winning shows that have earned high praise in the last two years—it would seem lesbian-themed productions might finally be deemed worthy of the Great White Way. In 2017, there might be more room for LGBT themes on the main stage that is so recognized around the world for being the best in both classic and modern theater, and what tourists eagerly purchase tickets for when they visit New York City.

Matchmaker, matchmaker, make me a match…

A young entrepreneur in India is playing matchmaker, arranging marriages between gay singles in a country where homosexuality is still technically illegal. Urvi Shah, 23, launched the International Marriage Bureau for Gays and Lesbians (IAGM) in 2015. Since then, IAGM has helped 21 couples in India, and more than 100 couples internationally, form long-term partnerships and marriages.

A new short film has surfaced online, and it is exactly the kind of wholesome we need to see this year. The film, called In A Heartbeat, was made as a portion of two students’ senior theses at Ringling College of Art and Design.
