QFilm Festival kicks off in Long Beach.

Kicking off this Thursday is the city’s longest-running film festival, set to bring more than 1,500 people through the doors of the historic Art Theatre to view narrative features, documentaries and short films embodying the experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) communities.

Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus takes on gay addictions.

Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus kicks off its 2017-18 season with Hitting Rock Bottom: KnoW Hope, a cabaret show chronicling the trials and tribulations of addiction. 26 members of the chorus will each take to the stage to sing about the ups and downs of this issue.

Lena Waithe provides the highlight at the Emmys for the LGBT community.

Lena Waithe and Aziz Ansari took home the Emmy for outstanding writing for a comedy series for their work on Master of None — but Waithe’s powerful acceptance speech deserves an award of its own. After thanking Ansari, her mom, her girlfriend and more, the actress and screenwriter took the time to give a major shout out to the LGBT community.

The LGBT community was out and proud at the Emmy Awards.

The Emmy Awards have wrapped. “Big Little Lies” was a big winner along with Donald Glover, “Saturday Night Live” and “The Handmaid’s Tale.” Lena Waithe made history as the first black woman to win for writing in a comedy series, “Handmaid’s” was the first streaming show to win drama, and Donald Glover was the first black man to win directing in comedy.
