Danish soccer players fight homophobia.

Some pretty powerful people in Denmark have united to form a campaign to fight homophobia in soccer. The campaign, with the hashtag #fodboldforalle, features soccer players, including national-team players, with a rainbow flag painted on their faces, according to TV2. Some of the athletes are speaking out as well.

L’Oréal’s transgender model loses job after hateful tweet.

Earlier this week, beauty giant L’Oréal Paris made headlines for hiring transgender model Munroe Bergdorf to appear in its YoursTruly True Match ad campaign. And now they’re making headlines several days later for parting ways with the 29-year-old British model after she wrote a lengthy post on Facebook in which she decried the “racial violence of … ALL white people.”

Heterosexuality now illegal in Michigan…or it was.

Elijah Daniel, a gay YouTube comedian, paid $100 to the town of Hell, Michigan in order to be declared its mayor. Now, with his newfound power, this American hero has criminalized heterosexual activity, a long overdue decree that’s sure to get this country back on track.

“Reel in the Closet” to benefit the GLBT Historical Society.

A new cut of the documentary “Reel in the Closet” will be screened at the Roxie Theater on Thurs., Aug. 31, at 7 p.m., with proceeds benefitting the GLBT Historical Society, whose archives provided extensive footage for the film from rarely seen home movies dating back to the 1930s.

LGBT film festival – Long Beach – Qfilms

Queer cinema reached peak visibility at the 89th Academy Awards when Barry Jenkins’ film Moonlight won for Best Picture. The film, which details the adolescent and adult lives of a young, black gay man, carries the distinction of being the first LGBT movie to win Best Picture and is clearly a turning point for more LGBT filmmakers to find wider representation in Hollywood.

LGBT Film Festival – Durban

Durbanites will have to wait until late September to enjoy the seventh annual Durban Gay and Lesbian Film Festival. With seven feature films, 11 documentaries and almost 30 short films from 14 countries globally, including South Africa, the festival – which now begins on September 28 – expects to speak to the interests of many different audiences.
