Discrimination claimed for shutting down bars early during Black Gay Pride.

Atlanta police ordered several LGBT bars and restaurants popular with gay patrons to close early on Sunday as they were filled with people celebrating Black Gay Pride. Blake’s, Ten, G’s and 10th & Piedmont were shut down about 12:30 a.m. on Monday – some two hours ahead of closing time – as Atlanta police showed up in force to the intersection of 10th Street and Piedmont Avenue.

Burke County Pride kicks off in Morganton, NC.

Alone and afraid, Seth Loven began to cry. But it was not the Seth Loven of today — the 23-year-old who aims to inspire others and who takes pride in who he is. This version of Loven was crying because his teenage mind couldn’t take one more second of people making fun of him. And as he fought back tears caused by constant jokes about his sexual orientation, he also fought back the urge to take his own life.

Mid-Missouri celebrates Pride.

In celebration of the LGBTQ commuity’s increasing visiblity in Mid-Missouri, LGBTQ organizations Mid-Missouri Pride and The Center Project came together to host their 14th annual PrideFest on Saturday at Rose Music Hall. The festival lasted from 1-10 p.m. and featured an array of performances and guest speakers, from live musical groups to an interfaith sermon from local LGBTQ-allied clergy and even a pole dance routine from Muse Pole Fitness dancers. The festival closed with the Downtown Hometown Drag Show, headlined by Roxxxy Andrews and showcasing 15 other local entertainers.

Thousands attend Akron’s first Pride event.

Preston Broyles said his father thinks Satan controls him. His twin sister thinks he betrayed her. And until he changed high schools, everyone, even his guidance counselor, insisted on referring to him as a girl even though they knew he had been diagnosed with gender dysphoria and identified as a boy.

Grand Forks comes together for Pride.

Grand Forks Pride, a celebration of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community, held its annual celebration Saturday at the American Legion in East Grand Forks. The day of celebration, which 27 vendors and groups participated in this year, was moved indoors due to forecasted thunderstorms.

Rochester Pride a whopping success!

The second annual Rochester Pride day was an enormous success, tripling the number of attendees and vendors. Politics, particularly President Trump’s military ban on transgender people was clearly on the minds of everyone, but Saturday’s event was all about celebrating people for themselves.
