One of the biggest travel and tourism event in French Speaking Quebec and Montreal and as the LGBT pride parade draws near, along with the final activities that will close 11 days of festivities that have once again rocked Montréal, the Government of Canada announced that four financial contributions totalling $463,300 have been granted to the Montréal Pride non-profit organization.
Near the front of Madison’s annual Outreach Pride Parade on Sunday, the Madison Area Transgender Association’s float flew flags of the five branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. A sign on the float, which read, “Standing with our trans troops,” represented a clear response to tweets last month by President Donald Trump that announced his decision to ban transgender people from serving in the military.
Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar began his three-day visit to Canada by taking part in the Montreal Pride Parade. Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, Ireland’s first gay PM, attended Sunday’s event with his Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau. The leaders also held talks, where they discussed a range of issues, including Brexit and abortion.
Trans and queer protesters were pinned to the ground by police, handcuffed, and arrested Saturday at Glasgow Pride, Gay Star News reports. The protesters, who carried signs with anti-police slogans, were attempting to block the parade at the beginning of its route in objection to the fact that Scottish officers were allowed to march at the front. “No pride in the police,” they shouted.

The annual Toledo Pride festival in Levis Square celebrated diversity and promoted equality for the LGBTQIA community — lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, intersex, and allied. People bedecked in bright, rainbow colors filled the streets after a joy-filled parade down Adams Street.

Saturday, City Plaza was an array of rainbow tie-dye dresses, striped headbands, hair and flags for Chico Pride Weekend 2017. Children splashed in the fountain as drag kings lip synched to “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” and “Go the Distance,” from the Disney movie “Hercules.”
