Bermuda has become the first country to legalize and then repeal same-sex marriage, in what critics have called an unprecedented rollback of civil rights by the British island territory. Bermuda’s governor has signed into law a bill reversing the right of gay couples to marry, despite a supreme court ruling last year authorizing same-sex marriage.

Indonesia classifies homosexuality as a ‘mental disorder’.

Indonesia has classified homosexuality as a “mental disorder”, as a bill to criminalise gay sex is introduced in the country’s parliament. The country’s Health Ministry on Friday said it was set to publish a medical guide based on two reports from the past two years.

Indonesia poised to criminalize gay relationships as Islam takes control. 

Riding a tsunami of moral conservatism and anti-gay prejudice, Indonesia’s Islamic political parties appear on the cusp of a major victory: outlawing all sex outside marriage. Revisions to Indonesia’s criminal code being considered by Parliament would allow prison sentences of up to five years for sex between unmarried people. Those changes would also criminalise gay sex, the bugbear of Indonesia’s Islamic and secular political parties.

Government okays LGBT festival in Myanmar, where homosexuality is still a crime.

The government of Myanmar gave approval for an LGBT gathering for the first time this weekend, allowing the &Proud festival to be held in a public park in Yangon. Organizers have historically held the film and culture series in secret, given the nation’s ban on homosexuality, a holdover from British colonial rule.

Jamaica bans anti-gay Arizona pastor from visiting country.

Jamaica has banned a Holocaust-denying pastor from Arizona who has called for gay people to be stoned death, after outcry from activists on the island. Steven Anderson, from the Faithful World Baptist Church in Tempe, said he was about to board a flight to Kingston when he was informed he would not be allowed into Jamaica.
