For the last decade, Campus Pride continues to be the most trusted, reliable educational resource for students and families to find the best campuses for LGBTQ inclusion and safety. The organization work alongside students, faculty, staff and administrators at 1400+ campuses annually to help support and improve the quality of campus life for LGBTQ people. Campus Pride chose the twenty-five campuses this year based on their overall ratings on the Campus Pride Index and specific LGBTQ-inclusive benchmark measures.  The Campus Pride Index, currently 300+ campuses, is the premier national benchmarking tool which self-assesses LGBTQ-friendly policies, programs and practices. Scottish gay men to receive ‘Turing Law’ pardons.

Gay men who were convicted of same-sex offences in Scotland before laws against homosexuality were dropped are to receive full pardons. The BBC understands the Scottish government will announce a new bill next week. If approved in parliament it would mean that all convicted gay men in Scotland would receive the formal pardon.

Life as a gay father to a kid with disabilities.

What’s it like to be a gay dad with a severely disabled child? I spoke with two fathers who have been caring for their profoundly autistic kids for many years. What came through was a portrait of men who had been compelled to find some way to make sense of their gay identities, which emerged for them later in life, within unusually complex lives. For both, being out offers a more authentic way of living; but any exploration of gayness is necessarily subordinated to the needs of their children.

Netherlands open arms to LGBT Chechenyans.

It is to be made easier for gay, lesbian and transgender people from Chechenya to claim asylum in the Netherlands, junior justice minister Klaas Dijkhoff has told parliament. The minister said he had taken the decision based on information which shows gay people face ‘systematic persecution’ in the country. Political activists and other people who criticise the Chechen government will also be eligible for a residency permit in the Netherlands, Dijkhoff said.

San Diego will finally have an AIDS Memorial.

After 30 years of discussions, proposals and two AIDS Memorial Task Forces, San Diego will join other cities across the country and all over the world and finally have an AIDS Memorial to remember the over 8,000 men, women and children who have died of AIDS in San Diego County.

Chilean President leading the way for LGBT rights.

Chilean President Michelle Bachelet has sent legislation to congress seeking to legalise gay marriage, a move that follows a string of social reforms in one of Latin America’s most conservative nations. The bill submitted on Monday would allow gay couples to adopt children and would denote marriage as a “union between two people” rather than between a man and a woman, according to reports.

Vogue Italia celebrates LGBT models in fashion

In a landmark moment for Vogue Italia, the September issue features not one, but two, pro-LBTQ covers — sealed with a kiss. Following the example set by the late, great, Franca Sozzani who frequently dedicated entire issues to underrepresented minorities in fashion, like plus-size and women of color, new editor-in-chief Emanuele Farneti has chosen to celebrate fashion’s biggest month with models locking lips.
