Gay track star warming up for Olympic run.

Openly gay former college track star L’equan Chapman is getting his shot at the United States Olympic Team. Chapman is one of 97 athletes invited to be part of Team USA’s “Scouting Camp: The Next Olympic Hopeful,” which will air nationally as a two-hour broadcast premiering at 9 p.m. ET on Aug. 25 on NBCSN. Chapman was a standout jumper and sprinter at Shippensburg University. In 2015 he was named the 2015 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Atlantic Region Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year.

Project Q, a youth program in Milwaukee, awarded $15,000.

The City of Milwaukee Youth Council has awarded The Milwaukee LGBT Community Center $15,000 for its youth program – Project Q. One of six agencies to be awarded grants, the center will use the money to enhance existing resources and fund community service projects for LGBT youth. “This grant is a sign of continued faith in the center’s programs,” said the organization’s co-president Paul Williams.

A bit of redecorating in The South.

It’s come to our attention that America is doing some redecorating: Monuments and statues honoring Confederate leaders are being taken down with a swiftness—which is terrific. But it’s leaving unsightly empty spaces outside city halls, parks, and schoolgrounds across the country. Below, we humbly nominate seven LGBT heroes perfectly suited for public admiration.

Adorable power couple attend Montreal Pride.

Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar began his three-day visit to Canada by taking part in the Montreal Pride Parade. Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, Ireland’s first gay PM, attended Sunday’s event with his Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau. The leaders also held talks, where they discussed a range of issues, including Brexit and abortion.

Luvs gets it right when connecting with LGBT parents.

Finding an “insight” is the holy grail of marketing. Brands spend years and dollars mining data to find exactly the right way to connect with their target audience. The “insight” becomes the unique aspect of the target where the brand can find an even more unique connection. Finding the “insight” is a big part of what I teach in my class at NYU. It’s a big part of the work I do with clients. And there’s no better example than that of the brand Luvs.

After the yearbooks were printed, the Missouri school district apologizes.

A Missouri school district said administrators censored lighthearted yearbook quotes by a pair of gay students celebrating their sexual orientation because they could have “offended” other students. The students, Joey Slivinski and Thomas Swartz, each selected quotes expressing their sexual orientation to appear beneath their senior portraits. The quote Slivinski submitted read: “Of course I dress well, I didn’t spend all that time in the closet for nothing.”

Internet dads are the first LGBT family to rep a high-fashion clothing line.

You may find many parents playing in the park or taking a dunk in the pool with their kids. But one Atlanta couple has a slightly different agenda. They’re modeling with their little ones, and they’ve just made history as the first black LGBT family to represent a high-fashion European clothing line. Kordale Lewis and Kaleb Anthony first entered the spotlight in 2014 when they posted a photo on Instagram of themselves and their daughters getting ready for school. The pic went viral, garnering more than 50,000 likes.
