Decades after Louganis’ run in the Olympics, Tom Daley took over as the latest gay aquatic athlete to inspire young queer kids around the world. But there’s a new kid in town, and luckily for us, he’s not camera shy.

“Gay.com” given to LA LGBT Center.

Video chat company VS Media has given Gay.com, a domain valued at millions of dollars, to a charity that will use it to assist the LGBT community. Gay.com was one of the top online gay personals sites in the world when it debuted in 1997 — and good domain names were so plentiful that companies didn’t need to invent new words for them, like “Google.” But it has lost ground to sites like Manhunt and apps like Grindr.

An apartment in a typical Soviet-style gray block in one of the Kyiv’s suburbs with a rundown backyard hardly sounds like an ideal place to live in, but 28-year-old Svyastoslav Smyrnov is happy with his new home. This four-room place houses seven people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender.

Will Seattle have its first lesbian mayor?

Today Jenny Durkan bested 20 other candidates to become the first lesbian in Seattle history to win a mayoral primary, and positioning herself to become the first openly lesbian mayor of the city. With a general election win in November, Jenny would become just one of two openly lesbian mayors currently representing major U.S. cities.

Gays go for the gold and win!

It’s been a summer to remember for three openly gay athletes, with two setting world records and a third winning a gold medal. It started in June when New Zealand rower Robbie Manson set a record in single sculls in winning the gold medal at the World Rowing Cup II in Poznan, Poland. Manson then won another gold medal a few weeks later at a world cup race in Switzerland.
