Victory for LGBT rights in South Korea.

South Korea’s Supreme Court has ordered the government to allow an LGBT rights foundation to legally register as a charity, reaffirming respect for LGBT rights in the country, Human Rights Watch reports.  The Beyond the Rainbow Foundation has faced discriminatory rejection from multiple government agencies over the past three years, preventing the group from receiving tax-deductible donations.

Florida Attorney General opposes same-sex couples as parents.

Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum says he opposes same-sex couples as parents, but he would wait until a challenge to Florida’s ban on gay adoption makes its way to the state’s highest court before deciding whether to try to stop gay couples from being foster parents.

Feeling the “hate” in Haiti.

The Haitian Senate has approved a law that would make it a crime to “publicly demonstrate support” for gay rights. The bill still has to head over to the lower house, but if greenlit, the law would make it a crime to take part in or even to witness to same-sex unions. People who even attempt to take part in any same-sex marriage would face criminal charges with up to three years in prison for “the parties, co-parties and accomplices” to a same-sex marriage.

Trump’s biggest LGBT supporters still defend him.

As a candidate for president, one of Donald Trump most notable breaks from conservative orthodoxy was his on-the-record support for LGBT rights. At the Republican National Convention, Trump said he’d “do everything in my power to protect our LGBT citizens.” That was after Peter Thiel became the first openly gay Republican to speak at the party’s convention, and after Trump told “the LGBT community” that he’d “fight” for them.
